FIELD: agriculture, in particular, presowing cultivation. SUBSTANCE: method involves providing leveled dry 4-6 cm thick upper layer of fine-grain structure with soil aggregates of 0.25-3 mm size; forming lower horizontal layer of soil with fine-grain structure at (4-6)-12 cm depth with soil aggregates of 0.25-3 cm size and density of 1.1-1.25 g/cub cm; cultivating upper and lower layers to depth of up to 40 cm by shallow plowing or deep mellowing. Method allows favorable conditions for growing and development of farm crops to be created by forming moisture accumulating and moisture retaining layers and moisture to be effectively used.
