Visible mouth part motion parameters are determined as instantaneous effective area of mouth opening. The fact of speech activity is stated by applying a criteria based on the mentioned parameters combination. Criteria threshold values are selected from experiment. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness and reliability in detecting speech activity under conditions of strong noise and low accuracy in positioning pickup units. 3 cl, 2 dwg
