FIELD: disposal of radioactive wastes. SUBSTANCE: container has external casing with cover, shock absorbers, and internal casing with cover. Internal casing rests on shock absorbers rigidly fixed to bottom of horizontally mounted external casing. Internal casing accommodates cans with seats to receive spent fuel assemblies. External casing cover is located at casing end and its inner surface carries shock absorbers rigidly fixed to and uniformly arranged on it. Shock absorbers on external casing bottom are also arranged uniformly and each shock absorber is built up of sleeves made in the form of different-size hollow cylinders inserted one into other in a spaced relation to load application points and rigidly fixed together at joint. EFFECT: improved protection against impact loads in transit, long-time storage, emergency situations such as fire; facilitated manufacture and installation. 3 dwg
