FIELD: cooling devices employing properties of expanding gas flow. SUBSTANCE: method of operation of cooling device consists in dividing gas flow into two flows: one flow is directed to heat exchanger and other flow is directed to expander. Gas flow is expanded and divided into two flows in two-flow vortex tube. Cold flow is mixed with return flow at heat exchanger inlet. Hot flow may be mixed with return flow at heat exchanger outlet. Device includes gas flow divider, expander, heat exchanger and cooler. Expander is made in form of two-flow vortex tube whose cold branch pipe is connected to return flow inlet branch pipe of heat exchanger. Hot branch pipe of vertex tube may be connected to return flow outlet branch pipe of heat exchanger. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of cooling; simplified construction. 4 cl, 4 dwg
