FIELD: weaponry. SUBSTANCE: method consists in laying of automatic weapon and fire by bursts of a fixed number of fragmentation shells with a remote air blast in each burst. During fire each fragmentation shell of the burst is blasted in the air on the flight path successively in different time intervals that are set in the shell time fuze just before firing or on the flight path. The number of fragmentation shells in each burst is determined by the number of zones of fragmentation injury by each shell in the flight direction covering the entire zone of probable location of tank-dangerous targets. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of suppression of tank-dangerous targets concealed at unknown ranges within 50 to 500 m. 2 cl, 1 dwg
