FIELD: testing of material for tension strength. SUBSTANCE: test piece has gripping parts and working part with stress concentrator in the form of through recesses rectangular in shape with rounded corners. Working part of test piece is made of two identical working members structurally oriented with respect to direction of application of load. Recess sizes are selected with consideration of length and width of working part and location surface of test piece, radius of rounding of recess corners and thickness of working members are test piece as a whole. Transverse sizes of working members may be equal to or less than transverse sized of test piece material structural components. Recess cavity may be filled with foreign working body coming in contact with internal side surface of working members and has guarding walls. External surfaces of test piece and guarding walls may have gas-tight heat-resistant organo-mineral coating.
