SAMPLE TO DETERMINE ELASTICITY MODULE AND STRESS LIMIT OF HIGH MODULUS CARBON-FIBER COMPOSITE IN SHEET PLANE SHEAR Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC G01N1/28 G01N3/24

Abstract RU 2617776 C1

FIELD: testing equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the sample, and to test polymeric composite materials (PCM) for shear in the sheet plane, or, more precisely high modulus carbon composites, with stacking the layers at the angle ±45°. The testing sample to determine the elasticity modulus and the stress limit of high-modulus carbon composites at shear in the sheet plane, is made in the form of the rectangular plate with the protective linings, having the working part, consisting of two working areas, located between symmetrically positioned on the opposite plate sides of two pairs U-shaped recesses along the loading application line. The radius of curvature R of each recess is in the range of values from 5 to 10 mm, at that the dimensions of the working area are selected from the ratio: l/b 5÷10, where l - length of the working area, b - width of the working area. The through holes are performed at the central part of the sample perpendicular to the load application line.

EFFECT: proposed sample allows to achieve, while testing of uniform stress-deformated state in the working part of the sample, to provide the maximum reduction of the stress concentrators level, which gives the opportunity to improve the accuracy and reliability of the high-modulus carbon composites strength characteristics determination.
