FIELD: study of materials. SUBSTANCE: proposed invention includes measurement of parameters of acoustic emission in process of deformation of article and sample from metal identical to that of article. Sample is subjected to static deformation. Dependencies "stress-acoustic emission parameters" and "deformation-acoustic emission parameters" are being established till sample is broken down. Article is deformed by impression of indenter. Plasto-elastic deformation in zone of impression is measured and dependence "impression depth-acoustic emission parameters" is established. Then dependence "stress-deformation" for metal of article is determined with use of dependencies obtained with sample and article. Number of pulses acoustic emission, amplitude of pulses of acoustic emission, number of pulses of acoustic emission per time unit and summary number of pulses of acoustic emission are employed as parameters of acoustic emission. EFFECT: increased informativity of process thanks to obtainment of dependence "stress-deformation" for metal of article, improved control over processes of plastic deformation. 1 cl
