FIELD: composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of determination of strength characteristics of materials. Indenter loading is carried out by indentation of a metal indenter fixed by means of a metal coupling, made in the form of a cone, with evenly increasing load, to a random zone of a sample of material under study, fixed on a metal plate, until a through hole is formed in the mentioned sample, a moment of formation of which is registered using an electrical signal obtained during closing of an electrical circuit between the metal coupling and the metal plate. In the moment of formation of the through hole in the sample of material under study, a value of an indenter load is fixed. Upon results of loading of at least two samples of material under study, arithmetic mean of resulting values of the indenter load is taken as a critical value leading to destruction of material under study.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determination of the minimum load necessary for formation of a through hole in material under study, as well as ease of implementation of the proposed method.
