FIELD: screw-type rotary working chambers for gas compression and expansion. SUBSTANCE: volume of each working chamber is varied and gas is displaced within it between any two adjacent turns moving unidirectionally at different speed due to different tilt angles of their helical lines. Volume of working chamber is varied by displacing one moving turn relative to other moving turn at relative speed of turn being displaced in this direction; gas transfer within working chamber takes place at speed of turn moving after it.
