FIELD: detection of unauthorized operations of equipment, activity and movement of personnel and foreign persons, for example, using hidden video cameras. SUBSTANCE: each electronic equipment, which has at least one service generator of electromagnetic oscillations (for example, quartz oscillator), also emits set of frequency constituents which is unique for it and describes its characteristics. Specific image of by-product emission depends on frequency characteristics of service oscillator(s), electronic circuit and properties of its elements. In this case, method involves passive reception of spectral constituents of by-product emission of inner oscillators of hidden electronic equipment into air, comparison of produced spectrum to known spectral images of by-product emission of known electronic equipment and recognition of type of hidden electronic equipment.
