FIELD: power metallurgy, more particularly manufacture of current- conducting contact products. SUBSTANCE: material comprises the following components, wt.%: natural graphite particles (size from 4 to 300 mcm), 10-90; coke residue, 5-20; pyrolytic carbon (generally in the form of matrix). Material is made pressed and has texture of graphite. Material also has form 0.1 to 30 wt.% of carbon fibers of not longer than 30 mm. Method comprises mixing natural graphite particles and binding agent for 1-3 hours, molding semifinished products from final mix, roasting the semifinished product at temperature of 800-1100 C for 0.5-1.5 h followed by saturation with pyrocarbon. Current-conducting contact product is made of said material and has density of not grater than 2.2 g/cu.cm and wear-out intensity is not in excess of 0.1-0.14 mm per 1000 km of travel of current collector. EFFECT: higher wear resistance of counterbody material, simplified technology of preparation thereof, reduced density, and cheaper material.
