DEVICE FOR DELIVERY OF INSTRUMENTS TO HORIZONTAL WELL Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: drilling horizontal and highly inclined oil and gas wells; devices for delivery of instruments to well. SUBSTANCE: device includes cylindrical housing, wedging supports and thruster. Thruster has wheels mounted on shafts of wedging supports through overrunning clutch. Outer surface of wheel has rounding radius equal to radius of well being studied. Wedging supports are provided with springs and are mounted on axles; wedging supports have projections received by slots of nut of motion screw. Mounted in housing are: electric motor with step- down reduction gear, bevel and chain transmissions. Device is connected with instrument to be lowered and with logging cable. When device is brought to horizontal section, electric motor is switched on. Motion screw start rotating releasing the wedging supports. Wheels rest against walls of well. For raising the instrument, cable is wound on winch drum. EFFECT: increased productivity; extended types of horizontal wells being studied. 2 dwg
