FIELD: hypoid gear hardening technology. SUBSTANCE: hypoid gear hardening machine 20 used for contour hardening of hypoid gears 27 has programmable logic control unit 21, hardening liquid source 40, and high- frequency induction generator 22 connected to high-frequency induction coil 70 that has primarily conical bottom surface; generator 22 is installed above hypoid gear 27 concentrically to the latter. Supporting plate 28 for hypoid gear 27 is coupled with rotating drive motor 30 and rotates together with hypoid gear at frequency of 900 to 1800 min-1. Induction coil 70 is excited by four low-energy and relatively low-length pulses. Final heating stage uses high-energy pulse and is immediately followed by hardening stage. Angle between bottom surface 71 and top surface of gear 27 is chosen so as to ensure heat balance in section between tooth head 72 and tooth root 73. EFFECT: improved hardening of gears. 4 cl, 8 dwg
