FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: proposed is a device and method of multi-frequency induction thermal processing objects such as gear wheels. An induction coil, which encircles the processed object, is supplied with energy at high frequency such that, the high frequency magnetic field is coupled with the processed object and provides for its induction heating. An inductor with a flat-topped magnetic core is connected to the coil, which is supplied with low frequency electrical energy. The processed object is put into an air gap in the magnetic circuit of the inductor with the flat-topped core, such that when low frequency current is supplied to coil, connected to the inductor with the flat-topped core, that object is heated due to Joule effect. As an alternative, the processed object which has an opening can be placed around the inductor with the flat-topped core.
EFFECT: uniform strengthening of gear wheels and reduced deformation due to induction heating at relatively low frequencies.
