FIELD: manufacture of building materials; manufacture of porous artificial articles. SUBSTANCE: raw material mixture includes the following components, mass-%: caustic soda (in terms of Na₂O), 5.74 to 6.13; microsilica, 43.0 to 45.9; sodium bicarbonate, 0.57 to 1.21 and water remainder. Method of manufacture of granulated heat-insulating material includes preparation of suspension of caustic soda, water, sodium bicarbonate and microsilica, preheating of this suspension and granulation followed by heat treatment of raw granules; preheating of suspension is effected at temperature of 110 to 120 C for 20 to 30 minutes; heat treatment of raw granules is effected at temperature of 350 to 400 C for an hour.
