FIELD: oil and gas production. SUBSTANCE: reagent for drilling mud intended for use under complicated geological conditions is prepared by maintaining 17-18 wt parts of tallow lignin sludge and 2-3 wt parts of caustic soda in the form of flowing pasty substance at 20-22 C for 18-24 hr or maintaining the same components in the form of well soluble solid at 90-95 C for 3-4 hr. Addition of 2-3 vol % of the reagent to clayey drilling muds is recommended.
