FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves performing angiographic examination of pulmonary part , duct canal and aortic ampulla of the open arterial duct. Ratio of aortic ampulla length to general length of the open arterial duct is determined. The value being greater than 2/3, open arterial duct type is determined as mainly funnel-like. The value being between 1/3 and 2/3, open arterial duct type is determined as intermediate one. The ratio being less than 1/3, open arterial duct type is determined as mainly tubular one. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy in quantitatively and qualitatively evaluating anatomic features of the open arterial duct. 4 dwg, 1 tbl
