FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: spent oils are treated with extracting agent which is essentially mixture of mineral and organic acids at extracting agent to stock volume ratio from 1:0.5 to 1:60. Mineral acid, e. g. orthophosphoric acid is used at concentrations from 5 to 100 wt %, organic acid, e.g. fumaric, acetic, propionic or acrylic acid is used as 100% acid. Mineral acid to organic acid weight ratio varies from 1:0.01 to 1:1. EFFECT: shorter phase separation period of time, greater efficiency and the same degree of clarification of oil. 2 cl, 21 ex, 1 tbl
