FIELD: glassmaking industry, applicable for melting of glass of all kinds, except for quartz glass. SUBSTANCE: in the glassmaking furnace the relation between the volume of the sill and the volume of the doghole makes up (30-35):(3-4) at a relation between the distance from the sill to the feed hopper and the distance from the sill to the doghole equal to (6-10): (3-6). The doghole is made at an angle of 11-18 deg to the basin bottom of the glassmaking furnace, and the distance from the furnace basin bottom to the furnace gird in the melting basin is to the sill height as (14-20):(8-10). EFFECT: intensified melting process, improved glass quality and reduced consumption of expensive refractory materials. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
