FIELD: metallurgy; methods of reduction of tetrafluoride of uranium by calcium thermal method. SUBSTANCE: melting is performed in graphite reactor preheated to at least 200 C and enclosed in heat- insulating casing. Preheating the reactor and placing it in heat-insulating casing make is possible to preserve heat and consequently to keep the reaction products in liquid state during the period of time when the most complete separation of uranium and slag takes place, thus excluding complex technology of reworking of uranium chips. EFFECT: possibility of production of uranium ingots without local inclusions of slag; increased yield of enriched uranium. 3 cl, 1 dwg, 2 ex
