FIELD: metallurgy; mechanical engineering; manufacture of metal sheets, bands, profiles, bars and wire with light not oxidized surfaces (steel of various qualities, copper, titanium and their alloys) subjected to pickling. SUBSTANCE: prior to pickling, oxidized metal materials are subjected to cold plastic deformation; degree of deformation depends on layer of scale whose depth shall be no less than 10% of thickness of material. Type of cold plastic deformation depends on form of oxidized material: tension - for wire, bars and profiles; bending - for plates; tension or rolling - for sheets and bands. EFFECT: reduction of time required for complete removal of scale; intensified pickling; increased productivity of preparation of surface. 2 tbl
