GAS PULSE RIPPER Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: mining and construction industries, machinery breaking frozen and strong ground by gas pulse action. SUBSTANCE: proposed gas pulse ripper has hydraulic drive, compressor and working tool coming in the form of tubular body with screw tip, exhaust holes being located near the latter, valve shutting them, tubular hollow cylinder placed inside body and coaxially to it, gas distribution system with gas lines, valve mechanism, working and additional chambers, piston positioned on tubular cylinder inside body on side opposite to tip and moving as pusher. It has sealing rings to shut off release of compressed air and upper part of pusher has longitudinal slits for injection of gas whose extent is comparable with working stroke of pusher. Chamber controlling pusher is located in upper part of working tool. Gas conducting tube communicating control chamber with source of compressed air or atmosphere is passed through working valve. Second working chamber is placed outside of body and is used as accumulator. In addition gas pulse ripper can be supplemented with reduction valve made of two membranes connected to valve supplying compressed air from compressor.
