FIELD: measurement technology, devices measuring geometric parameters of railway wheels with use of optical methods. SUBSTANCE: machine has unit of transmitters of position of surfaces of wheel with positioning mechanism, wheel turner, wheel feed mechanism, wheel turning mechanism coming in the form of driving and non-driving rollers, electronic information processing circuit based on computer and indicator. Unit of transmitters of position can include two laser range finders, scanning optoelectron system with use of photodiode strip or matrixes, collimated light source. Wheel examined by wheel feed mechanism is fed into wheel turner, is turned through certain angle and is pressed with wheel rim against bearing surface of turner and with rolling surface against bearing rollers under action of its mass. Then mechanism positioning unit of transmitters placed at same angle with horizon begins to lower unit of transmitters on entire diameter of wheel as far as it goes. Optoelectron transmitter scans wheel and profile of roll surface and flange and diameter of path along rolling circumference are computed. Some parameters are memorized by computer. Then wheel turns through 90 degrees and parameters are determined anew. EFFECT: test of assortment of parameters of wheel with enhanced precision and rate of adjustment to new type and size of wheel. 4 cl, 2 dwg
