FIELD: pressure release in sectionalized-casing installations. SUBSTANCE: under normal conditions, first section of casing wherein hydrogen atmosphere is held at high pressure is separated from inner space of second section with hydrogen seal. In case of failure of hydrogen seal excess hydrogen pressure is released through fast-drain line communicating through ventilation conduit with inner space of second section thereby preventing hydrogen escape to machine hall. Primary use of invention is for hydrogen-cooled generators. EFFECT: simplified means and design. 12 cl, 1 dwg
