FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a turbomachine shaft seal. A turbomachine shaft seal comprises a process gas seal charged by process gas and blocked on the process side and an atmospheric seal charged by air and blocked on the atmosphere side. A ventilation chamber is provided around the turbomachine shaft and set between the process gas seal and the atmospheric seal to collect and withdraw process gas leaks penetrating through the process gas seal, and air leaks penetrating through the atmospheric seal; the ventilation chamber comprises a leak inlet hole on its side radially set inside, and a leak outlet hole - on its side radially set outside as well as nozzles between the leak inlet hole and the leak outlet hole. The nozzles are made so that the ventilation chamber can block flame in respect to the inflammation of leak at the leak inlet hole, and/or leak in the ventilation chamber is flameproof.
EFFECT: invention improves reliability of a seal.
