FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves determining effective concentration of albumin and its general concentration in lacrimal fluid of a patient. Then, diagnostic albumin binding activity index is calculated as ratio of effective albumin concentration to its general concentration. The value of this index being equal to or less than 0.3, cataract development within the next 6 months is predicted. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of prophylactic treatment; high accuracy of prognosis. 4 dwg, 3 tbl
