FIELD: rolled stock production, namely linear bar rolling mills. SUBSTANCE: linear mill for lengthwise rolling includes between each stand and transmission of main drive unit reduction gears with gear ratio smoothly decreasing along rolling direction. Mill includes group of stands having chocks with rolling rolls and screwdown mechanisms. Rolling rolls of stands are joined by means of spindles with separate reduction gears. Reduction gears are joined through common transmission with group type electric drive unit. Metal is guided in rolls of first stand for rolling with predetermined rate depending upon gear ratio of separate reduction gear and revolution number of electric drive unit. Metal rolled in first stand is guided in rolls of next stand in which rolling rate is higher than that in previous one. It provides constant increase of metal motion speed. EFFECT: enhanced quality of rolled pieces, increased efficiency of rolling mill, lowered energy consumption for ton of rolled small bars, decreased area for mounting rolling equipment. 2 dwg
