FIELD: automotive industry; exhaust systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed converter has UV lamp, 50-150 cm long, featuring continuous radiation spectrum within the interval of 190-420 nm and mounted into acid- resistant housing. Gas to be cleaned passes in ring space between UV lamp and housing at a speed of 0.1-0.5 m/s. Atomizing of gas molecules takes place with subsequent recombination leading to formation of stable molecules of N2, CO2, PbO2. Converter has guide vanes providing movement and generating centrifugal forces throwing hard particles (PbO2) to walls of housing where particles are entrapped.
