FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: olefin hydrocarbons are prepared by dehydrogenation of corresponding paraffin hydrocarbons in the presence of catalyst which comprises, wt %: Cr2O3, 10.0-30.0; B2O3, 0.1-1.5; Me2O, 0.5-2.5; SiO2, 0.5-2.0; and Al2O3, the balance wherein Me is alkali metal. Process is carried out at temperature of 500-650 C, pressure of 1-2 absolute atmospheres and volumetric rate ranging from 100 to 500 h-1.. After hydrogenation, catalyst is subjected to regeneration.
