FIELD: mechanical engineering; valve-actuating mechanisms. SUBSTANCE: in proposed valve-actuating mechanism one torsion spring is used per each pair of V-mounted intake and exhaust valves. Spring is coupled with valves by its spherical ends adjoining ring torus- shaped groove of thrust washer fitted on valve stem. Joining of spring ends with valves provides guaranteed rotation of valves when engine operates. Coils of spring are fitted in support in contact with cylinder head for turning and displacement along plane of like valve axes which provides self-alignment of spring. With support fitted on piston installed in hydraulic cylinder communicating with engine lubrication system, spring tensioning is ensured depending on engine operating speed. Proposed invention provides simplified design and reduced cost of valve- actuating mechanism, enlarged operating capabilities and compact mounting in cylinder head, reduced mass of moving parts, decreased friction and wear and power losses in drive.
