FIELD: search for oil and gas on shelf. SUBSTANCE: information signal in which capacity seismo-acoustic background of the Earth is used is recorded. Vibrations are generated in water without stopping of recording of information signal. Registration of information signal is continued after termination of generation. Recording is conducted simultaneously by three components by two three-component acoustic plants as minimum placed in leak-tight case. Acoustic plants are positioned on board of crafts in points minimally susceptible to natural oscillations of craft hull. Crafts are positioned equidistantly from source of generation of vibrations. Presence of oil and gas field is determined by emergence of infrasonic frequencies in spectral characteristics of information signal recorded both in process and after stopping of generation in comparison with spectral characteristics of information signal recorded before generation.
