FIELD: transport engineering; passenger car steering systems. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to steering gears of cars employing gear-rack mechanism and equipped with antilocking system. Proposed mechanism has steering mechanism housing with fitted in drive gear mechanically coupled with steering wheel and engaging with worm rod used to transmit efforts to steering drive which has steering tie-rods and drag-rods mechanically coupled with steerable wheels to provide their locking. Actuating mechanism has automatic interlocking mechanism of steerable wheels which consists of hydraulic cylinder with partition dividing cylinder into two spaces. Left-hand space of cylinder accommodates spring-loaded control piston connected with gear rod. Right-hand space accommodates spring-loaded controlled piston connected through rod with steering tie-and drag-rods. Axial hole made in partition of hydraulic cylinder connects left-hand and right-hand piston spaces. At no control action from gear when steerable wheels are interlocked, this hole is overlapped by spool fitted in radial hole of hydraulic cylinder partition and it provides connection of left-hand and right-hand piston spaces at control action from gear rod when steerable wheels are unlocked. EFFECT: reduced shimmy of steerable wheels, improved steerability of car, decreased wear of tyres and steering gear parts. 2 dwg
