FIELD: transport engineering; steering gears of cars furnished with antilocking system. SUBSTANCE: proposed actuating mechanism has housing of steering mechanism with fitted-in steering shaft gear engaging with drive shaft gear, steering linkage with steering rods mechanically coupled with steering wheels, steered wheel automatic locking mechanism. Housing of automatic locking mechanism rigidly secured on car frame accommodates nut connected with drive shaft and coupled by self- braking screw ball joint with cross screw rod connected with steering rods. Through longitudinal slot for screw rod is made in nut for engagement with guide rod arranged in housing to provide translation of cross screw rod. EFFECT: prevention of harmful action of self-sustained vibrations of steered wheels on driver, reduced level of self-sustained vibrations, improved steerability of car and reduced wear of tires. 3 dwg
