FIELD: underwater acoustics, passive listening systems. SUBSTANCE: frequency-time processing of noise signal received by antenna is carried out in three frequency ranges as minimum. Before indication signal of each frequency range is coded by its own color. Brightness of each color component is determined by level of signal in corresponding frequency range. Color components are combined in color representation as in screen of picture tube, for instance. Color of noisy object on screen of indicator in such system will be function of range for certain type of noisy objects, for example, low noise, heavy noise, etc. Type of noisy object and evaluation of range to it are conducted by comparison of color of indicating path with color scales of noisy objects of various classes by range obtained by hydrological data by way of computation of level of signal in ranges and display of color signal on screen depending on range. Process does not require any expensive hardware for its realization and makes it possible to evaluate type of noisy object and range to it which is technical objective of invention.
