FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: method includes analysing a hydroacoustic noise signal of a sea object by comparing said signal with a predicted signal which is dynamically generated for a plurality of assumed noisiness of the object and distance to the object by determining a correlation coefficient. An estimate of the noisiness of the object and an estimate of the distance to the object are determined from the maximum of the function of the correlation coefficient versus the assumed noisiness of the object and the assumed distance to the object.
EFFECT: high accuracy of estimating noisiness of an object while simultaneously reducing the total number of arithmetic operations when estimating noisiness of the object and distance to the object.
