FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has signal-clipping circuit with analog-to- digital converter attached to it, quadrature divider connected to the analog-to-digital converter as well as decoder connected to the quadrature divider. Upper limit value is selected for dynamic analog-to-digital converter range. Minimum permissible signal quality for treating radio signal in receiver is determined. Signal quality value is generated at the exit from the analog-to-digital converter and the generated value is compared to the minimum permissible signal quality. The signal entering the analog-to-digital converter is limited so that the signal power exceeds the analog-to-digital converter upper limit value and so that the minimum permissible signal quality is surpassed when power of the signal transmitted from the signal-clipping circuit exceeds the upper limit value. EFFECT: wide dynamic range; no complex modification needed. 5 cl, 8 dwg
