SHELL AND METHOD FOR ASSEMBLAGE OF SHELL Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2157502 C1

FIELD: artillery ammunition. SUBSTANCE: the shell has compartment, whose bodies are joined through a threaded bush. A thread of opposite direction is made on the outer surface of the bush opposite ends, and a mating thread-on the inner surfaces of the compartments. Telescopically installed on the bush between the compartments is a ring with a slot located tangentially to the ring cylindrical surface. A groove is made between the threads under the slot on the bush, and a flexible member with a compression range of at least haft the thread pitch of the bush on the side of the flexible member is located between the interior of one of the compartment bodies and bush. The method of shell assemblage consists in joining of the compartment bodies through an inter-mediate threaded bush. At the beginning of joining an internal threaded bush with made opposite- directed threads of the ends is inserted in one of the bodies of the compartments being joined. Then, and external ring with a through tangential slot is telescopically installed on the bush. The body of the second joined compartment is fitted on the free end of the threaded bush, and the compartments are oriented relative to each other with a subsequent fixation. Then, the compartment get tightened relative to each other by rotation of the threaded bush with the ring. After that the internal threaded bush is additionally tightened up, a flexible member with an operating tightening range of at least half the thread pitch of the bush on the side of the compartment being joined in installed before joining of one of the compartments to be joined between it and the threaded bush. EFFECT: improved quality of shell assemblage, reduced impact load at shooting. 4 cl, 4 dwg
