FIELD: textile industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves opening spinning section of spinning machine; supplying reduced pressure into inner cavity of rotor via central part of rotor inlet opening and in front of rotor inlet opening; sucking out filaments and contaminants from rotor inner cavity by separating them from rotor inner surface by flows of compressed cleaning air. Volume of sucked air exceeds that of supplied cleaning air. Apparatus has cleaning head with suction pipe which may be connected to reduced pressure source. Cleaning head inlet opening has smaller diameter than rotor inlet opening, and is provided with at least two cleaning nozzles, which may be connected to compressed air source, and mechanism for moving cleaning head to operating position. When cleaning head is in operating position, suction pipe inlet opening and cleaning nozzles are positioned in front of rotor inlet opening, and gap is defined between rotor inlet opening and cleaning head. EFFECT: increased efficiency in cleaning rotor cavity, reduced power consumption and preventing filaments and contaminants from polluting environment. 18 cl, 10 dwg
