METHOD FOR DETECTION OF NUMBER OF RESOLVED FLYING TARGETS IN GROUP Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2158005 C1

FIELD: radar equipment. SUBSTANCE: method involves serial statistic analysis for making decision about numerical strength of group. Goal of invention is achieved by calculation of likelihood ratios for information about presence and number of observed trajectories for previous observation cycles, starting from moment of detection of at least one trajectory. In addition, method involves calculation of decision making threshold values, which takes into account relative shift of targets, and desired precision of decision, as well as possibility of false trajectories. Probability for detection of false marks at output of radar is fixed at constant level for complete observation period. When conditions, which describe required probability for detection of numerical strength, are fulfilled, decision about number of targets is made. When conditions are not fulfilled, decision is not made, and next observation cycle within region, where group of targets is expected, starts. Invention achieves its goal in conditions of limited power resource of radar and presence of false trajectories caused by system noise in receiver. EFFECT: increased distance for detection of numerical strength of target group. 5 dwg, 1 tbl
