FIELD: radiation inspection of nuclear plants. SUBSTANCE: equipment under diagnostics is exposed to electromagnetic radiation of reactor under inspection; novelty is that monochromatic rays are continuously discriminated from greater to smaller wavelength or vice versa at fixed speed; mean wavelength of monochromatic rays is chosen depending on size of expected flaws and results of interaction between rays and equipment under inspection are analyzed by sensing element only for wavelengths whose rate of change corresponds to that of monochromatic rays acting on equipment under inspection. Electromagnetic rays used for diagnostics are distinguished by high power exceeding that of rays supplied from radio isotope sources. EFFECT: improved capacity and reliability of diagnostics especially in detecting flaws and foreign inclusions in reactor components. 2 dwg
