FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method of diagnostics includes placement of two coordinate-track detectors below a reactor and outside a building, in which it is located. At the same time the axes of the detectors are directed to the reactor, and their projections on the horizontal plane make an angle of 90±15 degrees. With the help of detectors they register a flow of space mu-mesons, they form 2D matrices of an integral flow of mu-mesons. Further the image is visualised in the mu-meson flow of the nuclear reactor and adjacent structural elements, damages of the reactor are detected on the image, the estimate of its condition is given.
EFFECT: reduced risk of personnel radiation, possibility to carry out diagnostics at any extent of collapse of reactor room slabs, independence of received signals from level of radioactivity of a diagnosed object.
