FIELD: groats production. SUBSTANCE: method involves cleaning grain from contaminants; providing shelling and staged polishing by means of unit with abrasive surface; sorting polished product while withdrawing ground core and hulling bran. Polishing of rice grains is performed by working unit having abrasive surface containing base of epoxy 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol resin hardened with polyethylene polyamine and filler containing mixture of black silicon carbide particles. Minimum amount of binder in abrasive structure at optimum base and filler ratio is 0.15:1 - 0.35:1 of weight parts. Polishing process is performed in three stages: at first and second stages, mixture of particles of silicon carbide with sizes of main fractions of 1,000-800 micron and 800-630 micron is used, with fractions of mentioned sizes being used in equal weight proportions, and at third polishing stage, mixture of particles of silicon carbide with sizes of main fraction of 800-630 micron and 630-500 micron is used, with fractions of mentioned sizes being used in equal weight proportions. EFFECT: increased efficiency by reduced process time and decreased output of ground groats due to intensified polishing process and mild action upon grains during polishing process. 2 cl, 4 dwg, 2 tbl
