FIELD: electrical engineering; charging sealed and non-sealed nickel-cadmium storage batteries. SUBSTANCE: battery charger functions to test charged battery for residual capacity followed by its discharging (if necessary) and charging according one of conditions recorded in storage: charging with regulated DC current or discharging while gradually varying current magnitude, checking charging time and voltage across storage battery. Device makes it possible to easily vary charge-discharge parameters for different types of batteries and to organize optimal conditions by recording desired charge-discharge voltage, current, and time in computer storage. EFFECT: enlarged range of batteries that can be charged; improved service life of batteries. 1 dwg, 1 tbl
