FIELD: electrical engineering; electric drives; transport control systems. SUBSTANCE: motor has inductor and armature mounted for relative rotation or linear displacement and incorporating self-contained C-shaped cores with pole horns secured on opposite sides across direction of relative displacement. Field coils are wound on pole horns of inductor core and connected through controlled diode switches to DC voltage supply. Magnetic pull is set up between inductor core and armature due to intermittent current supply to coils thereby producing working moment or traction force.
