TORQUE TRANSFORMER Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

Abstract RU 2160400 C2

FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: multiflow tapered elastofriction transmission with automatic control of torque transformer transmission ratio has double-step tapered planetary variator and differential tapered variator. Driving rollers of variators are positioned on input shaft of torque transformer. Embracing rim of tapered planetary variator is secured to body. Embracing rim of differential tapered variator is coupled to output shaft of torque transformer. Common carrier with paired cones of both variators is arranged between driving rollers. Axes of paired cones are inclined to input shaft axis through angle equal to half the angle at vertex of paired cones. Generatrices of groups of cones contacting respectively driving rollers and embracing rims are parallel with input shaft axis. Force of pressure of driving rollers and embracing rims to cones varies in proportion to transmitted torque. Formula for determination of output shaft rotation frequency is given herein. Provision is made for wide range of continuous automatic control of transmission ratio depending on output shaft torque. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 4 cl, 3 dwg
