FIELD: power transfer mechanisms of machines. SUBSTANCE: transformer has two conical multiple-flow variable-speed drives with elastic frictional transmission. Variable-speed drive on input shaft end is of planet type with fixed enclosing rim axially displaced by hand. Other variable-speed drive is of differential type. Its enclosing rim is joined with output shaft. Both variable-speed drives have common carrier with cones mounted in pairs on two sides of carrier disk. Distance balls mounted in tilted grooves at cone bases build up cone-to-rim compression forces proportional to torque being transmitted. Transformer ensures automatic and manual control of transmission ratio with reversal. Elastic frictional transmission enables transformer operation without lubricating frictional surfaces at high adhesion ratio. Multiple-flow arrangement of transformer provides for transmission of high torques, enlarged transmission-ratio control range, and noiseless operation.
