FIELD: automatic control over longitudinal movement of motor vehicle under conditions of saturated city traffic flow. SUBSTANCE: technical objective of invention lies in reduction of follow-up errors of position thanks to formation of control over vehicle on basis of relative speed and deviation of interval between this vehicle and motor vehicle running in front of it from reference distance and on basis of evaluation of value equal to sum of acceleration of motor vehicle running in front and specific forces of resistance of vehicle to rolling and air normalized to own mass of vehicle. Device of follow-up control over longitudinal movement of motor vehicle includes meter of relative speed and interval between this vehicle and motor vehicle running in front, master unit of reference distance, former of difference of interval and reference distance, transducer of specific force generated by engine and brake systems of vehicle, control unit and unit evaluating sum of acceleration of motor vehicle running in front and specific forces of resistance of vehicle to rolling and air normalized to own mass of vehicle.
