FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: iron-containing oxide raw materials and a carbon reducing agent in the form of a consumable rod billet are supplied in the area of thermal action of arcs. Heating and melting of iron-containing oxide raw materials and recovery of iron is carried out by means of two or more electric arcs with formation of melt at the end of the consumable rod billet. At the same time the working ends of electrodes are arranged symmetrically along the circumference of the supplied consumable rod billet, besides, below its end, and supply of metal and slag produced at the end of the consumable billet is provided into a metal receiver coaxially arranged with the rod billet.

EFFECT: reduced energy intensity of recovery, increased efficiency of a process, improved quality of a produced metal product, expansion of its assortment and reduced hazardous emissions into atmosphere.
