FIELD: metal working, possibly sharpening of blade type tools. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of matching non-worked adjacent surface of blade with basic surface of base in the form of wedge-shape geometrical body having flat basic and free surfaces; at adjusting machine tool, placing free surface of base lower than blade surface to be worked by value equal to admission value for working; preliminarily applying upon basic surface of base layer of soft heat conductive metal; grinding surfaces of tool blade until contact of grinding wheel with free surface of base. Application of layer of soft heat conductive metal provides high contact heat conduction of blade-base butt, lowered thermal stress in blade at grinding. At the end of grinding cycle contact heat conduction of blade-base butt near edge of blade increases further. EFFECT: enhanced quality and efficiency of sharpening of blade type tool by means of grinding wheel. 3 dwg, 1 ex
